Yesterday, I volunteered to white glove at the Champlain Valley Quilt Guild’s Annual Quilt Show at Shelbourne Farms in Shelbourne, VT. We had 100 quilts on display and several vendors selling all the latest toys and fabrics. I had a great time as a white glover showing people the quilts, answering questions, and discouraging people from touching the quilts.
And I won third place!
I had entered my sons’ quilts that I had made them featuring Thomas the Train and James the Train from Thomas & Friends. They are an original design with an applique design in the center and paper-pieced pinwheels in the border. Because I could only have one of them judged, I chose to have Thomas (the blue train) judged. James had been washed and was the first one I had made. There were a few errors that I worked out when I made Thomas and thought Thomas would be better received by the judges.
Well, somehow the labels on the two quilts got mixed up and James wound up being the one judged. Despite my belief that Thomas was better, I still won a third place ribbon for James! I couldn’t be more pleased. This was the first time I had ever entered a show and I am thrilled.

Congrats on winning a ribbon at your first show! I think your quilts are just beautiful.
